There will be performance areas in CULVER SQUARE, LION WALK, ELD LANE, TRINTYSTREET and courtesy of LUSH, the cosmetics shop, in their premises in SIR ISAAC’SWALK, as well as the MARKET AREAS and it starts at 11.00 am with a grand opening by the Mayor Cllr Helen Chua and guests and the Colchester Town Watch in CulverSquare.

The main part of theparade sta rts from Abby Fields, but for logistical and technical reasons, someparts of it will start from Headgate instead: So if you want to see the wholeparade in all its glory, we recommend you to watch it in Head Street or High Street.

Colchester Carnival’s Street and Park Festival
Colchester Carnival is not just a parade! We have arranged an entire day of music, dance, and sheer family fun for you throughout the streets of Colchester and in the Castle Park to put you in theparty mood for the most spectacular procession that Colchester has ever seen!A dazzling arrayof entertainers, dancers and musicians has been assembled by the artisticDirector of the Carnival, DorianKelly, of Illuminati on behalf ofthe Colchester Round Table. It will take placefrom 11.30 am on Saturday 16th July on Culver Square, Lion Walk,Trinty Street, and Sir Isaacs Walk with buskers through the rest of the towncentre, and of course, throughout the Park.

Starting with anopening by The Mayor, The Worshipful Mayor and Mayor’s Escort Cllr. Helen Chua and Cllr Mike Hoggat 11.30 we kick off with theamazing 26-piece contemporary choir FUNKY VOICES.
Then ANNIESFANTASIES, Colchester’s own traditional clog morris dancers with liveconcertina and melodieon music from Paul McCann.
This is followedby some fantastic and highly enjoyable operatic arias from CORRINNA DOLFO.
A special treat THEHAT CHECK HONEYS- Helene and Julie – a sassy, witty duo will be bringing their own brand of swing.
AKULA TRIBALBELLY DANCERS then take the square by storm with some amazing set-piece dancesfrom various cultures.
Then a realtreat from Colchester’s rising stars LADY BIRD AND THE LARKS, with their ownself-penned songs which take ahighly entertaining but wry look at life.
The we havecontemporary dance from one of our local dance schools, followed by a set from THE MEDDLARS – traditional songs and music from theBrisish Isles- and some surprises, too!
