Details

This bite-sized festival returns to the historic leafy grounds of Hatfield Park in Hertfordshire for its third year on Sunday 25 July 2010. Although still shiny and new, Folk by the Oak has already built its reputation as a relaxed, family friendly event where the high quality line-up takes top priority. As well as an award-winning selection of contemporary folk and acoustic artists, it features a craft fair, workshops, children’s activities, storytelling, circus skills, real ale bar, music stalls, recycled gifts and delicious food. Folk by the Oak is a lazy Sunday afternoon featuring some of the best artists that today’s folk scene has to offer. If your budget or your schedule won’t stretch to one of the big festivals, this is the perfect way to catch a showcase of folk’s finest live acts packed into one sublime summer day. It’s easy to get to (Hatfield train/tube station is just 5 minutes walk away, and there’s ample free parking), it’s stress free (with one site and one main stage – just pick a spot, open up your deckchair, and relax!), and you can even bring your own food and drink, and enjoy a picnic while you watch. It’s an intimate event of only a few thousand people; small enough to be relaxed and safe, but with plenty of atmosphere and lots to join in with if you fancy it.
