Solid Entertainments is very pleased to announce that Ilfracombe Folk, Roots & World Music Festival will be taking place at the John Fowler Holiday Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 20th, 21st, 22nd November!

As the first festival of its kind in Ilfracombe, the line-up had to be very, very special and with Fairport Convention, Oysters3 and Barbara Dickson headlining and 17 other top class acts, this will most definitely be one of North Devon's finest festivals and a weekend not to miss!

Based in suburban north London, Fairport Convention played their first concert in a church hall in May 1967. In 2002, they won the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and the seminal album Liege And Lief was voted 'Best Folk Album Ever' by Radio 2 listeners. In Summer 2006, Liege And Lief was awarded a Gold Disc for its continuing sales. Very nearly half of a century later, Fairport Convention is in fine form and are still one of the busiest bands around. The current line-up of Simon Nicol (lead vocal, rhythm and electric guitars), Dave Pegg (backing vocals, bass guitar, mandolin), Ric Sanders (violin), Chris Leslie (lead vocal, fiddle, bouzouki, mandolin) and Gerry Conway (percussion and drums) still packs venues on its frequent tours. In August last year, the band staged Fairport's Cropredy Convention music festival in Oxfordshire and in most years, there are tours in the USA, Canada and UK by the Fairport Acoustic line-up and the spin-off band The Dylan Project.

Oysters3, up close and personal are John Jones, Alan Prosser and Ian Telfer; the three founder members and creative heart of folk-rock legends Oysterband. The Trio present a fresh acoustic performance, not-entirely-discreet stories - an insight into their history, sometimes turbulent, often funny, with great songs from every era of a unique career. “The idea arose from Sidmouth and Shrewsbury Festivals recently asking them to do ‘something different’ as well as the regular Oysterband style of concert. When the more or less improvised show went down a storm - they wondered “how on earth they’d never thought of doing this before!”

As a multi-million selling recording artist with an equally impressive Olivier Award winning acting career, Barbara Dickson OBE has firmly established herself as one of the most enduring and popular artistes in Britain today. In this special acoustic performance, Barbara Dickson with her pianist Nick Holland explore her catalogue of songs at an intimate level. The pair let the words and melodies take ‘centre stage’ as they perform a wonderful range of material drawing on Barbara’s folk roots, her latest exploration of the songs of Gerry Rafferty, and some of her classic hit records. Nick joined Barbara’s touring band in the mid 2000’s after working with Troy Donockley in the Maddy Prior Band and recording with Maddy on a couple of her seminal albums which Barbara knew and admired.

The expansive and incredibly impressive full line-up comprises of:

Friday – Oysters3 - Charlie Worsham – Crossharbour - Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker - Lotte Mullan - Lindae Em

Saturday - Barbara Dickson & Nick Holland - Remembering August - Liv Austen - Dexeter - Lucy May - Delta Ladies - Ellie Dibben - Mark Harrison

Sunday - Fairport Convention - Julie Felix - Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman - Coco and The Butterfields - Beth Porter - Woof and Wilde
