Details

From October 20th-22nd, Peterborough’s Oxjam Festival will fill every corner of the city with music, all raising valuable funds for Oxfam.

Oxjam is a month-long series of events up and down the county and this year sees the first musical extravaganza hosted in Peterborough. The event has been entirely conceived and organised by volunteers with a passion for the city and its artists. Over the weekend, acts will perform in venues across the city, with the stunning Norman Cathedral serving as a central hub.

The festival kicks off in style with a launch party at the Brewery Tap, Westgate on Friday 20th October with an electric performance from Peterborough favourites The Motor City Vipers supported by Nick Corney and the Buzz Rats. Doors open at 7pm and tickets are available from the venue or via the festival website.

Saturday’s Community Jam, a more family friendly event, takes place in the grounds of the Cathedral from noon. Acts performing throughout the day include singer/songwriter Kerry Devine, funk band The Wise Naïve and video DJs The Video Geeks as well as community choirs, molly dancers and even a ukulele orchestra! Entry to the Saturday session will be by wristband and wearers can take advantage of special discounts offered by local bars and restaurants as well as the exclusive range of world cuisine available on site.

The festival closes with a gig at the Met Lounge on Sunday October 22nd, where the focus will be predominantly on female artists in keeping with Oxfam’s campaign to promote ‘Water, Women and Work’. Acts include the Fyzz Wallis Band, the Lartey Sisters and Nottingham-based ska/reggae outfit Unknown Era. Doors open at 7pm and tickets are available via the festival website.
