Following a successful inaugural edition, Between Mountains Festival returns to Holdenweid in Hölstein from 4–6 September 2026. What began as a one-day premiere in 2025 now expands into a three-day festival experience, bringing together classical music, electronic sounds and experimental forms in a unique natural setting.

Nestled among the rolling hills of Basel-Landschaft at the foot of the Jura Mountains, the historic Holdenweid estate once again becomes a meeting point for music lovers, explorers and creative minds. Across concerts, live sets, DJ performances and immersive sound experiences, the festival creates a space that deliberately transcends boundaries between genres, scenes and generations.

The name Between Mountains reflects this idea. Between mountains, between worlds, between tradition and the future, the festival opens a space for encounter and new perspectives. Here, contemporary classical music, ambient, electronica and improvised music meet without being confined by conventional categories.

The 2026 programme brings together an international line-up of artists from the electronic and classical music worlds. This year’s guests include Acid Pauli, Sebastian Mullaert, Stimming, Robot Koch, Earth Trax and AFAR, presenting a wide range of electronic music—from organic sonic landscapes to hypnotic dancefloor moments.

On the classical and contemporary side, the festival welcomes Polish cellist and composer Dobrawa Czocher, pianist Beatrice Berrut, violinist Alexandra Maria Seywald, trumpeter Simon Höfele and pianist Kai Schumacher. The programme also features Detect Ensemble, Junges Kammerorchester Baselland, the acclaimed saxophone quartet Kebyart, the Catalan duo Los Sara Fontan, duo equinox, maTrigal and Maximilian Wolfgang Schwarz.

Through this carefully curated diversity, Between Mountains creates a place where attentive listening is as natural as collective celebration. During the day, concerts and sound installations invite discovery and reflection, while after sunset the site transforms into an atmospheric landscape of light, nature and electronic music.

New for 2026 is the expansion into a full festival weekend, including accommodation and camping options on site. This creates even more space for encounters, exchange and shared experiences far removed from everyday urban routines.
Between Mountains is conceived as an open and inclusive cultural space. Regardless of age, background or musical preferences, everyone is invited to explore new sonic experiences and discover the connection between nature, architecture and music in all its diversity.
