Take one absolutely gorgeous Welsh Castle. Add a big stage, a great sound system and quality theatre lighting. Squeeze in a superb bar selling quality local ales, ciders, quality wines and spirits. Mix in locally sourced food outlets. Finally sprinkle with an array of amazing stars of the stage and “viola” you have the perfect recipe for an evening out and a taste of CASTELL ROC FESTIVAL which is a real hidden gem.

Held inside the historic walls of Chepstow Castle and hosting a variety of different shows to suit all tastes, the Festival has been nationally praised for its relaxed atmosphere as well as its world class Venue. It’s not like Glastonbury, for one it’s small (but perfectly formed), it’s definitely quaint, it’s intimate, the acoustics in the enclosed arena are astonishing, it’s perfect for all ages and it is by far much prettier.

Don’t think mud and expensive plastic bottled beer, think more pints of locally sourced real ales, ciders and of course food outlets all set on the beautifully manicured lawns inside a real Welsh Castle. Are we getting the picture?

The Festival has proudly grown over the years attracting bigger and better acts to perform which is no mean feat, especially seeing as it is actually a community based Festival. A star studded array of brilliant shows are lined up, ready for August 2018.

Tickets to these shows do sell out really fast, with fans flocking from all over the UK and Europe (as well as attracting sales from Canada & USA), to enjoy seeing the big stars ‘under the stars’. The shows on offer are usually reserved for Inner City locations, so a chance to see these Artistes in such a picturesque Venue is what makes things so special.

The Festival kicks off on the 16th August, with its now legendary annual rock show “Monsters Of Roc” which this year features the best tributes to Led Zeppelin (LedZep), Whitesnake (WhitesnakeUK) & Guns N Roses (UK Guns N Roses). Bring you’re ‘air guitars’ along and be catapulted back in time, when Rock ruled the World.

Friday 17th August is a chance to see a band hailed as “the best live band in the country” by The Guardian, in “Alabama3”. The band (probably most famous for the theme tune to the TV “The Sopranos”) also features support from the incredible singer songwriter “Philippa Hanna” with her live band.

Saturday 18th August is a very special intimate evening, when the incredible “Dr Hook”, starring Dennis Locorriere arrive at the Castle. With a whole host of hits lined up, this show is the only show in the UK with tickets available to purchase in 2018! A guaranteed sell-out…….so do be quick……

Sunday 19th August is a night of Blues & Grooves, featuring the multi award winning stars of modern blues “King King”, saluted as ‘the best blues-rock band in the world’ (Blues Rock Review), credited for ‘setting the blues world on fire’ (Classic Rock), nominated for Best New Band at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour and handed back-to-back British Blues Awards. Support is provided by “Buck & Evans” featuring virtuoso guitarist Chris Buck who was recently named as ‘best new guitarist in the world’, plus a slot from Blues stalwarts “The Worried Men”.

After a brief rest, Friday 24th August is a chance to see one of the biggest success stories in British Theatre history as the “Magic Of Motown” cruises in to town. Seen by over 1 million people worldwide the incredible ‘Magic Of Motown’ is packed with stunning musicianship, glittering costume changes, dazzling dance moves as well as over 40 non-stop Motown hits.…….You will be ‘dancing in the streets’ after this show.

Saturday 25th August is an intimate chance to see the wonders of UK Country Music “The Shires”. Undeniably the biggest thing to hit the UK Country music scene, ever! The duo, consisting of Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes continue their total domination with two albums both hitting the UK top ten and a stunning third album release just out entitled “Accidentally On Purpose”. Close fans of The Shires will already know that the BBC documentary ‘The Shires – New Country’ which discusses their incredible rise to stardom and the catalyst for a rise in UK County featured footage taken from a sold out performance in Chepstow Castle in 2016.

Sunday 26th August, flying in from Australia is the one and only Grammy Award winning, international chart topping British music legend “Leo Sayer”. This show will be stuffed full of Leo’s incredible hits from over the years and will also include a special guest appearance from “Mari Wilson & The New Wilsations”.

Monday 27th August is a first in the UK with a show dedicated to not one but two pop icons “Prince” & “Michael Jackson”. Both Artistes are at the very top of the game, both will be bringing their full bands along complete with backing singers and dancers, making this show effectively two shows for the price of one! The only question on our mind is, “will there be a Prince & Michael Jackson duet”?

Thursday 30th is a chance to enjoy a great night of Ska & Reggae when the brilliant “The Dualers” hit the big stage. The 9 piece Jamaican rhythm & blues band have broken musical barriers by catapulting their style of music back in to the UK Top 40 with absolutely no industry or professional backing. Support being provided by the 7-piece Cardiff stompers “The Naverones”.

Friday 31st August sees the welcome return of The Craig Charles Fuck & Soul Club. Yes the TV star of Red Dwarf, Coronation Street, The Gadget Show plus many others is also an incredible DJ hosting his own BBC Radio show dedicated to funk & soul, from classics to fresh new talent!
