Details

Moving a short distance away from last years venue, the line-up in 2020 is very different with three co-headliners that span musical generations; The animals & friends, The Blockheads and Wille & The Bandits plus three other acts that are determined to leave the audience wanting more!

In 1964 a wave of new energetic rock and roll swept over the youth of the world. On the crest of this wave was The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and of course The Animals. From the banks of the River Tyne came the North East's offering; a brand of rhythm n blues that the whole world seemed to grasp greedily. The Animals were the second British band to top the American charts after The Beatles with the now multi-million selling and legendary anthem,'House of the Rising Sun'. The band subsequently achieved over twenty global Top Ten hit records, many of which gained the Number One slot in various parts of the world. In Britain alone, the band had no less than twelve chart entries.

Starting out as the band behind Ian Dury, The Blockheads are a legendary outfit that has grown in stature from the early days of the Stiff tour in 1977, right up to the present day. Backing up Ian Dury’s poetic lyrics, this is the band that brought you ‘Hit Me with your Rhythm Stick’, ‘What A Waste’, ‘Reasons to be Cheerful (Part 3)’, and ‘Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll’, among many others
Rarely off the road since the demise of Ian Dury in 2000, but now with Derek Hussey fronting the band, the Blockheads are still one of the most underrated British bands of all time, with a legion of fans of all ages. The Blockheads are fronted by Derek ‘The Draw’ Hussey, and Chaz Jankel, Norman Watt-Roy, John Turnbull and Mick Gallagher still remain from the original band. The current line-up is augmented by John Roberts on drums and a rolling line up of saxophonists that includes Gilad Atzmon, Terry Edwards and Dave Lewis.

Essentially Wille and the Bandits is a classic blues rock three piece much in the vein of Cream or The Jimi Hendrix experience. But in a similar way to how these bands pushed the genre in their time, Wille and the Bandits try to take their sound beyond what is expected of such a traditional line up. It’s rare to find a band as dynamic as Wille and the Bandits, one that is just as comfortable and as impressive at both ends of the sonic spectrum. In the modern age of disposable music it is refreshing to hear a band that still value the art of creating albums and who continue to bring new instruments and ideas into their songwriting rather than settling for a tried and tested formula.

A little about other acts in the line-up:

• Deep Blues Sea – the band's music has been defined as 21st century blues - new shoots from the old roots - taking the blues out for a walk in the sun and the rain, the here and now!
• Southbound - bringing an exclusive take on British Blues, audiences are enthralled by the unique sounds and grooves that the band create on stage which has helped to propel their career forward!
• Lee Ainley’s Blues Storm – the unique vocal pairing of mother and daughter Lee and Tori Ainley, a band dedicated to entertaining audiences with a stunning selection of Blues infused grooves!

Situated in the popular coastal resort of Cleethorpes, Beachcomber's Entertainment Centre is one of the largest venues in the North East Lincolnshire area and is host to many events throughout the year. The Entertainment Centre has two large capacity rooms - the Starlight Suite and the Show Bar and is great entertainment hub for holidaymakers and caravan owners as well as a perfect venue for live entertainment!

No need to worry about searching for food and drinks on the day either, there will be a range of alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages, real ales available and a varied menu that should meet everyone's taste!

Don’t be late, doors open at 1.30 p.m. and the music starts at 2.00 p.m. and ends at 10.00 p.m.
