Hatfield House

Levellers (perfomring Levelling the Land Live), Kate Rusby, Show of Hands

Folk by the Oak has become a firm fixture in the summer festival calendar thanks to its friendly, relaxed atmosphere - a happy mixture of local village fete and the full on festival experience!
Now in its 10th year, the festival has become renowned for putting together a 'line-up of headliners' and 2017 looks set to be another spectacular year of wall to wall sublime music as Levellers, Kate Rusby and Show of Hands all announced for the main stage, alongside acoustic blues legend Eric Bibb.

Being a one day festival Folk by the Oak has also created an opportunity to experience all the fun of a festival without the need to camp, particularly convenient for families with young children, especially when you take into consideration the dedicated family area with storytellers, folk dancers, circus performers, slackline gurus, wand makers, knot makers, artists, bush craft folk and archers to name but a few. You are also invited to bring your own picnics and drinks in, although there is a range of tempting street food on offer should you need it.

Folk by the Oak takes its name from its magical setting - the Elizabeth Oak Field of historic Hatfield House. The beautiful rolling landscape surrounded by ancient trees creates the perfect setting, enhancing that wonderful sense of freedom and escape that festivals strive to create and providing the perfect backdrop for their unique firework finale.

Folk by the Oak is the only folk festival in the UK to light up the sky with a spectacular firework accompaniment to the closing act, which this year will be Levellers, performing their Levelling the Land Live - a blistering set that has recently enjoyed an international sell-out tour celebrating 25 years since the release of the platinum selling album in 1991!

With Hatfield station just 5 minutes walk from the festival arena and only 20 minutes by train from Kings Cross, Folk by the Oak also makes the perfect family day out for those wishing to travel by train.
