Local folk musicians form the UK 'Capital City of Folk Music' !

A weekend of music and song sessions in Sheffield's famous 'Vale of Ale'. The weekend features wall to wall participation opportunities for musicians and singers. The city itself is home to many of UK folk music's 'big names' many of whom simply 'turn up' in the sessions and singarounds during the weekend. There are only two concerts - one on Saturday night at Shakespeares, our main pub and the other on Sunday afternoon.

This is the 'Surprise Concert' big name artists are surprised to find themselves performing in support of this unique grass-roots festival. Special events include workshops and the famous Eb/Bb Session featuring the wealth of traditional music that defies the turgid G/D milieu, as well as the 'Rude Songs' singaround where some of the filthiest songs in the Anglo-Scottish folk tradition may be heard in their unexpurgated glory. Between these two extremes we supply wall to wall Americana at The Hillsborough Hotel, Singer/Songwriter songshares at The Ship, Shape-note singing and Ukulele marathons at The Three Tuns with a Diversity session at The Dog and Partridge - all of the and many more fill the Easter weekend with great music and memories to warm your heart well into the Summer season.
