This August, the ancient town of Maldon in Essex welcomes back this fabulous festival celebrating the magical art of cooking with fire and smoke; showcasing new and exciting food, recipes and techniques and offering entertainment the whole family can enjoy, including an extensive children’s play area. Cited as one of the top Twenty Food Festivals in Britain in 2017 (Telegraph) Opening at 10.30 both days, the festival is located in the beautiful surroundings of Maldon’s Promenade Park on the banks of the River Black Water.

The spice-inspired annual event is just £2 to enter, and kids up to 16 yrs are FREE, but there will be plenty of fundraising across the festival, to support the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance – good fun and food for a great cause!

This two-day festival has plenty to keep young and old entertained and well-fed, including:

• Demos & workshops from Marcus Bawdon, UK BBQ Magazine editor, Simon Dyer - ITV's BBQ Champ - John Grower, Quite Waters and other BBQ cooking heroes
• Up to 20 international teams will compete to become the Maldon Smoke & Fire Pitmaster Champion – Teams are coming from all over the UK and Europe.
• The Essex UK Chilli Cook-Off - teams have 4 hours to make a chilli from scratch, and the winning team will win a cash prize plus entry into the UK final and the World Chilli Championships in Alabama!
• Real ale, craft beer and cider festival featuring award-winning local, and not so local, producers
• Live music on both days– including Americana, jazz, blues, rock, reggae, and much more
• Some of the best hot sauces from Essex and across the UK
• Two and Three Night Camping packages available in Advance

And for those whose skills lie more in eating than cooking, there is Hot Noodle and Hot wings eating challenges - and for the exceptionally brave, a chill pepper eating competition!
