THE GREAT GATSBY FAIR July 21st & 22nd Roaring 20’s Themed Weekend

Metropole Lawns beside the De la Warr Pavilion and along the Seafront Bexhill-on-Sea East Sussex TN40 1DP

Bexhill is in for a real treat this year when Bentleys Fairs introduce The Great Gatsby Fair.
A great weekend to dress in your best vintage clothes (if you choose to) and join in the fun.

Come and see the classic cars, vintage bikes, and enjoy the music & dance displays and competitions.

Lindy Hop, Morris dancers, Stilt walkers, Children’s Entertainment both days in the marquee on the Lawns next to the De La Warr Pavilion, Performing Arts Schools will show off their talents, there is also a Brolly Parade and marching band. Jazz bands, Ukulele bands and artists singing the 40’s songs from the old days. All of this is free to enjoy for everyone.

Harold The Trolly Bus will be with us, he is 90 years old this year!

The Bexhill Charleston Challenge Dance
Head to the terrace at the back of the De La Warr Pavilion for this event which is free to join in.
From 11.15 we will be giving out tickets for the free £50 cash draw to everyone participating. We start the dance at 12.00pm
The Savoy Kicks will be onstage teaching the moves, and then the big dance starts.
Come dressed in your vintage attire, or just something comfortable it is up to you!

Food Feast South East will be bringing in some delicious food, flaming grills, BBQ’s steaks, sausages and chicken and Vegetarians and Vegans will have a good menu to choose from. Bars will serve ice cold beer, speciality wines, cocktails and mocktails.

A fabulous Vintage Fair will be curated by Pop Up Vintage Fairs London. Winners of the best vintage fair for 3 consecutive years, so expect some fabulous stock including homewares, clothing, Jewellery, furniture, and lots more!

Children’s Entertainment will be on the Metropole lawns from 10.00am until 1.00pm Saturday and Sunday £2.00 per entry.

The highlights of this weekend are the parties and competitions with cash and other prizes being held in the big marquee area on the Metropole Lawns beside the De La Warr Pavilion. These are ticketed events for adults, under 16’s go free. See Party and Competition Tickets


The Charleston Party gets underway from 1.30pm at the marquee on the Metropole Lawns beside The De La Warr Pavilion. There’s a complimentary drink on arrival to get this party started! Come and dance to the sounds of The Roaring Twenties Swing Band.

The Savoy kicks Charleston dance troupe will be on stage taking you through the dance moves for the Charleston Dance Competition which follows with cash prizes for the winning contestants in 1st & 2nd place.There are prizes for the Best Dressed Lady, the Best Dressed Gent and the Best Dressed under 16.

The Vintage Swing Night takes place in the marquee from 7.00pm to 10.30pm with the Memphis Flyers, The Rockin’ Ambassadors and vintage DJ Gypsy John. A bar and food will be available. Tickets £10 on the door or £7 from our Party and Competition Tickets page.


Jazz Breakfast from 10.00 till 12.00 including coffee and pastry, listening to Helen Sharpe and the Bluesettes in the marquee on the Metropole Lawns. Tickets £8 on the day or £6.50 in advance from our Party and Competition Tickets page.

The Peaky Blinders Retro Party starts at 1.30pm with a complimentary drink on arrival to get things going! Introducing ’The Peaky Blinder’ 40’s singer Pete Wayre with his great repertoire of all of the old classic songs associated with the ‘Gatsby’ era.

The Swing Street Band will keep the jazzy swing music flowing with their distinctive sound.Best dressed Peaky Blinder, Guys and Dolls, Bonnie and Clyde and best dressed under 16 win cash prizes.

The parties are not restricted to dancers and people in period dress, everyone is most welcome to join in with these 2 events which were introduced this year to help with the continuity of the event in the future.

A selection of sandwiches, cakes, teas and coffee and a bar will be available on both days in the marquee.

There is a competition for the best photo taken at the event with a £50 cash prize. Photographers please submit up to ten photographs to within five days.
