The Lord of The Rings Trilogy


The perfect venue of Moseley Park is synonymous with JRR Tolkien’s childhood. A 300-year-old park formerly part of the Moseley Hall Estate, comprising of gentle sloping pastures nestled within a scattering of coppices and dells. Making a beautiful natural amphitheatre overlooking a picturesque lake and boathouse. Also home to the iconic 18th century ice-house that is rumoured to be the inspiration for Tolkien’s Hobbit House.

Coinciding with the Middle Earth Festival at Sarehole Mill. We offer an evenings entertainment of film and live music to make that weekend an unforgettable magical experience for all Tolkien enthusiasts.

Opening at 3:30pm we invite our guests to enjoy the afternoon within the tranquil and beautiful Moseley Park. From 5pm as the sunsets over the lake, The Central England Camerata conducted by Louis Clark Jnr will preform a “Twilight Orchestral Programme”. Comprising of two 40 minute performances with a 20 minute interval. Screenings of each film in the trilogy will start at 7pm each evening. Audio for the film will be delivered via radio headsets offering a hi-quality audio experience.

Family friendly entertainment is offered each afternoon and evening throughout the weekend. With a PG certificate The Lord of the Rings films are suitable for all ages. Lots of free afternoon activities including children’s games, story-telling, folk dance displays, costumed actors, and wandering minstrels. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume each day, prior to the film screening. Food and Drink from local artisan caterers taking guests further along their unexpected journey with Tolkien themed servings. Beers, breads, cakes & sweets all with a Tolkien twist.

Central England Camerata led by its founder violinist Anna Downes comprises freelance musicians who perform regularly with City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, English Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra da Camera. Conducting the Camerata will be local composer Louis Clark Jnr. Taking time out from his touring commitments as a player and second conductor with the Orchestra of ELO (Electric Light Orchestra).
