A brand new world music festival has been launched in Worcester combining blues, reggae, klezmer, bluegrass, roots and Indian classical music – and, in keeping with the breadth of musical styles it is called the World in a Day music festival.

Held at The Fold in Bransford, Worcester WR6 5JB, home of the highly successful Blues at The Fold festival the new one day event will be held on Saturday 1st September and features top bands, food and drink at the covered outdoor venue.

“It will be a day of the widest range of music with top UK bands taking us around the world of musical styles,” said organiser Oliver Carpenter. “It is such a perfect venue for a small music festival as there is both a large covered and a large uncovered area to watch the bands from so, whatever the weather we’ve got it covered (or uncovered!) You just bring a chair and the rest comes to you. We have a maximum of 600 tickets for sale so we are encouraging people to book early.”

We have top reggae sounds from Kingsley Salmon and his band, performing before he heads off to play the Nigeria and Gambia Reggae Festivals. We also have exciting klezmer kings Troyka and their stormy mixture of traditional and original songs and rhythms from the Balkans.

Progressive bluegrass trio The Folly Brothers will be playing with their blend of modern country twang with rollicking bluegrass along with country blues rockers Stone Mountain Sinners featuring Neil Iveson and Sarah Warren adding some bold gritty Americana to the mix.

The food and drink will all be locally sourced and delicious and evolve through the day, building on The Fold’s reputation for high quality ethical food, and the bars will feature beers from a number of local breweries plus a marvellous wine and prosecco bar. There will be camping available on the Saturday night to enable visitors to make the most of the whole day.

It’s an eclectic so you will have a ball enjoying the best of musical styles from all over the world. Gates open at 1pm and the music runs from 2-11pm.
