The Music
There's an eclectic mixture of musical styles lined up for the 2011 Devauden Music Fest. There will be something for everyone on Saturday with a great mix of pop, rock, folk and funk. Friday night's offerings have a folk bias with a headline set from Rusty Shackle and solo performances from three outstanding singer songwriters.
Friday Night 7pm onwards
Headliners Rusty Shackle made a huge impression with their energetic performance at last year's Fest and are certainly on a roll. Their eagerly anticipated debut album is due for release in April 2011 and is likely to bring their mix of Celtic folk, bluegrass and old-time blues to an even wider audience. Check out their website for a foretaste of what to expect including a great video for last year's single Cold Hearted Town and an inspirational live version of Dizzee Rascal's Bonkers.
Friday night at the Devauden Music Fest will also see live sets from three talented singer songwriters: Stewart Simpson, Catrin O'Neil and Juey. Don't miss this opportunity to see these fantastic solo artists.
Also playing on Friday night are the ever popular Doods on Stools. Legend has it that Rob and Jack Dood have been entertaining festival crowds (and pub goers) with their doodified versions of classic rock songs since the late sixties. Over four decades of hard graft on the road to rock stardom finally paid off when they were accepted onto the bill for the 2011 Devauden Music Fest.
Saturday
With two stages in operation there will be an almost continuous stream of high quality music throughout the afternoon and evening. With even more bands playing than last year it promises to be a great festival that will be jam packed with 10 hours of entertainment.
As well as some fantastic pop music from the likes of Angharad and Katie Morgan there'll also be plenty of rock, blues and folk. Incommunicado will get you singing along, Acoustic Zeppelin will get your foot tapping, The Peppermint Hunting Lodge will get your head banging, and funksters Zang Tang will get your whole body dancing.
The aficionados amongst you can look forward to performances from Richard Staines, Loxley and Nine Mile Point whereas those who prefer heavier sound will enjoy O.C.D., Stars & Flights and Rough Diamond.
There'll also be songs from local stalwarts Ian Luther, Steve Lacey and acts from Chepstow Acoustic Music Club.
