Halifax Food and Drink Festival

Celebrity chefs Jean-Christophe Novelli and Antony Worrall Thompson

The Halifax Food and Drink Festival, which this year is being held in association with The Halifax, returns this autumn for its fourth year to bring a three day feast of all things foodie.

Taking place from Friday 16th-Sunday 18th September within the stunning setting of The Piece Hall, the festival will showcase the very best culinary delights from Calderdale, the Yorkshire region and the rest of the UK.

Last year the event attracted more than 17,000 visits with people flocking to Halifax to indulge in the region’s top-notch food and drink and 2011 promises to delight guests even more!

Taking to the stage in the Festival Cookery Theatre will be celebrity chefs Jean-Christophe Novelli and Antony Worrall Thompson, along with an impressive line up of incredible local talent all utilising fresh local produce and ingredients to share delicious menu ideas and the tastiest seasonal recipes.

Jean-Christophe Novelli who is dubbed “the nation’s favourite French chef” has accumulated no less than four consecutive Michelin stars during his career and created exquisite dishes for celebrity stars such as Richard Branson and David Beckham to name a few. He has also appeared on a wide variety of the UK’s most popular cookery programmes including Saturday Cooks and Hell’s Kitchen.

Antony-Worrall Thompson’s cooking career has spanned more than 30 years during which time he has established himself not only as one of the UK’s most popular chef’s but also a prolific restaurateur, TV entertainer, author, journalist, farmer and campaigner. He has won industry accolades in abundance and in recognition of his influence and contribution to British food, he has been awarded the Meilleur Ouvrier de Grande Bretagne (MOGB) – the chef’s Oscar – and is one of only seven chefs to have merited the lifelong title so far.

In addition to first class demonstrations and gourmet cooking, a range of speciality foods and drink will be available to buy from the local producers market and the premium food and drinks marquee. Whilst the interactive workshops, master-classes and food and drink tastings by our team of food experts, will offer hands on family activity giving both adults and children the chance to have a go on the day.

Restaurant heavyweights from around the region will serve light bites from their signature dishes allowing festival-goers to sample new flavours at just a fraction of the cost. All of this as well as live music and evening entertainment makes this a great celebration and the perfect weekend event to satisfy the appetites of food and drink lovers everywhere.
