Kaya Festival is back in 2015, at Margam Country Park, South Wales on August 7th-9th.

Kaya offers an assortment of African, Jamaican, European, Latin, Caribbean, European and world musical flavours (see line up) along with a diverse range of workshops, arts, food stalls and festival activities. We have some great national and international artists along with some of the best local upcoming and established acts, in fact we will have over 100 musical acts across 4 stages!

Kaya is a family friendly festival providing lots of activities and workshops for kids and adults alike. KIDS UNDER 16 GO FREE and many activities for kids will also be free! We have camping slots available (in limited numbers) and a dedicated family camping area. See kayafestival.com for more info!

FRIDAY 7TH AUGUST:
THE TURBANS – The Turbans is an international musical collective bringing together exciting traditional near-eastern and eastern-European styles and original compositions, to create a modern and energetic performance with reverence for its ancient roots.

KIBIR LA AMLAK – Kibir La Amlak payhomage to the traditional sound system style whilst offering a respectful and unique twist of their own. As dub music journeys and grows into increasingly electronic and dance influenced forms Kibir La Amlak steadfastly hold onto the roots and culture that the scene was built upon.

THE NOSES – A “hillbilly country punk” band from South Wales! Having released Their debut album in 2012 to many rave reviews, The Noses have since gone on to tour the UK extensively and have played many festivals, including The Greenman, Larmer tree and Glastonbury. Their live performances have also gained them many prestigious accolades which include: ‘Larmer Tree Breakthrough Music Award Winner 2014′, The Convents winner of ‘The Band 2014′, and most recently went on to win a slot to perform on The Godney Gartherings main stage in 2015.

DISCO PANTHER – Watch out sex kittens, word on the street is there’s a new cat in town called Disco Panther. They’ve been diggin in the crates and found hidden Funk Disco gems from East to West Coast, Europe and our very own shores. Disco Panther are new to the UK Funk scene and between them they’ve been causing a stir with powerful ass moving performances.

Pioneers of the London Acid Jazz scene, The Brand New Heavies, are a British music institution whose uniqueThe Brand New Heavies will play Kaya Festival 2015 mix of jazz, funk and soul has lit up the UK music scene for well over two decades.

SUNDAY 9TH AUGUST:

MYKAL ROSE – Grammy award winning reggae legend Michael Rose has been recording and performing his brand of militant, hardcore Jamaican music to the delight of reggae fans around the world for over 25 years. As a solo artist, with Black Uhuru, and back as a solo artist, the “Ruff” Rose has achieved great success throughout his career, even as different Jamaican musical styles have phased in and out of popularity.

THE SKINTS -from London mix reggae, ska, dub, punk & hip-hop, dubbing their sound as ‘East London Reggae’. Since 2008 the band have toured extensively, playing hundreds of shows, supporting bands that include The King Blues, The Beat, The Aggrolites, Gym Class Heroes, You Me at Six, Sublime with Rome,Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, The Slackers, Gogol Bordello and Bedouin Soundclash

HOLLIE COOK - Hollie Cook is a British singer who has recorded as a solo artist and is also part of the recent lineup of The Slits.She is the daughter of Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook. Her mother Jeni was a backing singer for Culture Club and Boy George is her godfather. Hollie went on to collaborate with Ian Brown and Jamie T

LIONSTAR – A Reggae/Rock/World Fusion band comprised of 6 members, all of which bring a unique characteristic to the overall sound through their individual styles and influences, mixing classic Reggae, with Dub, Rock, Funk, Soul, World, with hypnotic heavy basslines to screaming lead guitars along with true and meaningful, soulful lyrics mashed with tight, funky,technical drums, Lionstar have recently enjoyed playing with such artists as UB40, Aswad, Soul II Soul, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Bad Manners, Heatwave, Happy Mondays, Toploader, Buzzcocks, Sir John Holt, Laid Blak, plus many many more, as well as appearing at and even headlining gigs and festivals throughout the UK.

CAPTAIN ACCIDENT AND THE DISASTERS – Captain Accident is a solo-project with a twist. Although all music & parts are written, played, recorded & produced alone in the Captain’s bedroom, a collective of unbelievably good mates (and of course highly talented musicians) known as “The Disasters” make it possible for the project to be taken out live. Big up the Disasters for making the live show possible! Without them it simply wouldn’t happen :)
