August Bank Holiday 25-27th August 2023
The Maui Waui Festival of Music and Performing Arts has become one of the most exciting, creative and well-loved festivals in East Anglia, attracting around 5,000 people to its new location at Hill Farm, near Dereham, Norfolk.
2023 celebrates 10 glorious years of bringing amazing music and performing arts to the East Anglian countryside.
The festival has 6 stages and opens on the Thursday night so provides 4 nights and 3 days of entertainment, including:
Tankus The Henge, Bentley Rhythm Ace, Dub Pistols, Slamboree, Afriquoi, Town of Cats, Mista Trick and over 100 bands and acts!
There will be lots of special performances for this 10 Year Anniversary including the spectacular Feeding the Fish. This amazing team of dancers and jugglers has toured the world, performing at hundreds of corporate and high profile events including Café de Paris, the Great Pyramids in Egypt, the Closing Ceremony of the London Paralympics, Cirque du Soleil, MTV Awards and Glastonbury Festival.
Returning for 2023 is the freshly built Pirate Ship Mk II – a wooden replica of a pirate ship complete with smoke-firing canons, sails and pyrotechnics that will make the DJ area go with a bang!
Also within the Electronic Dance area is ‘The Outer Limits’, a collection of space-themed sound systems with world class DJ’s. This immersive dance area will be filled with detailed décor, incl. a
stainless steel life-size UFO as the DJ Stage.
On Sunday one of the stages has an Americana Theme hosting some of the countries leading performers of Country, Blues, Bluegrass and American Folk music.
Maui Waui is so much more than just the music; this unique festival boasts a FULL CIRCUS TENT with workshops, displays and shows. Live circus acts also happen throughout the weekend, in-between the acts on the stages.
Returning again for 2023 is the incredible Living Art Tent and its stunningly creative UK body painting competition. This is where human bodies become the canvasses for these talented body-painting artists who spend the weekend creating their themed paintings with a grand catwalk show on Saturday afternoon on the Main Stage.
Maui Waui is a family friendly festival. Children 13yr and under go FREE!
The festival has a huge kids area with a full weekend of free activities throughout the event, including wacky racing, craft sessions, bouncy castles, bubble craft, storytelling and lots more, with full supervision within the special children’s area. Creativity, art and extravagant décor is at the heart of Maui Waui. Months of creative work go into the event, both before the event and on site, ensuring that its 6 venues and many attractions really look the part. This attention to detail is what really sets this event apart from other small festivals, along with the colourful and vibrant folk who attend, all of which makes for an electric atmosphere on the site.
The festival is proud to have a green policy, recycling 80% of all rubbish on site. They use Solar energy to power the lighting around the site and have ethical trading and food standards, many vegan and vegetarian food stalls plus only charge their food & drink vendors reasonable rates to keep refreshments affordable.
Every year Maui Waui raises money for local charities with charity auctions and other events and has helped charities such as Suffolk ArtLink (for disabled people), St Elizabeth Hospice and
“I made this†- a musical charity as well as many more.
