Held on a beautiful greenfield site in a picturesque hamlet in North Derbyshire, Stainsby Festival is a registered charity event run entirely by volunteers.
The three day event, held in July each year, is in its fifty eighth year and takes place on the third wekeend of July each year.
The festival began in 1968 with the help of the Stainsby Arts Centre, run from the old village school, which opened its doors to the youth of the mining villages that surrounded it in 1967. Some of the youngsters that co-created that first festival now, bring their children and grandchildren to help run the event today.
This entirely volunteer-run festival – a registered charity – has grown into a much loved community event.
The festival is run on a non profit basis, channeling all ticket monies to the artists’ fees and to the cost of running the event.
Stainsby is all about live music and performance: hearing, playing, writing, performing and learning. Everything goes back into the event.
