Bloodstock Open Air is the UK's largest independent heavy metal festival, held every August at Catton Park in Walton-on-Trent, on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border.
Music has traditionally run across four stages - the outdoor Ronnie James Dio main stage, the Sophie Lancaster Stage in a big top, the New Blood Stage for emerging bands and a smaller acoustic stage. The first bands for 2027 were revealed during the 2026 festival: Mercyful Fate headline on Friday, Electric Callboy make their Bloodstock debut on Saturday and Motionless In White close the weekend on Sunday in their first European festival headline slot, while the Sophie Lancaster Stage features Madball, Gaerea, Kanonenfieber and Dethklok. Acid Bath, Green Lung and Children of Bodom are among the special guests.
Around 100 more bands are still to be announced. New for 2027 are two luxury VIP areas: the Serpent's Lair VIP campsite and the Serpent's Lair VIP Sanctuary, with pod accommodation in a quieter spot close to the main arena.
