The Royal Bath & West Show is run by the Royal Bath and West of England Society, which was founded in Bath in 1777 to encourage agriculture, arts, manufacture and commerce. The annual show began at Taunton in 1852 and moved between locations before settling at its permanent showground near Shepton Mallet in Somerset.
Visitors can expect Main Ring entertainment, livestock and animal showing, a Main Lawn family area, live music and roaming performers, the Great British Kitchen and food and drink halls, Lakeside Farm, a Woodland and Countryside Arena, bees and honey, Great British Dogs, vintage machinery and the Bath & West Railway, plus competitions and trade stands.
The organisers bill it as three days of family fun and one of England's biggest celebrations of rural life. The show drew more than 155,000 visitors in both 2009 and 2010.
