About
HippFest is Scotland's first and only festival of silent film with live music. It is centred on the Hippodrome in Bo'ness, described as Scotland's first purpose-built cinema, and 2026 was the festival's 16th edition.
Audiences can expect rare and restored films from cinema's earliest decades, each accompanied live by musicians from Scotland and abroad, plus workshops and events in and around the venue for all ages.
Festival passes are available, and an online HippFest at Home strand lets audiences watch selected screenings from anywhere. The festival is a Falkirk Council project supported by Screen Scotland, Creative Scotland and BFI National Lottery funding.
