London's festival of non-fiction cinema, art and ideas returns for its 17th edition.

About
Open City Documentary Festival is based at the UCL Centre for Public Anthropology and bridges academia and London's independent film community. The 17th edition takes place in April 2027 at venues across London.
The festival presents international contemporary and retrospective non-fiction film, audio and cross-media work, with Q&As, panels, talks and workshops. In 2026 it showed 125 films from 31 countries.
Recent editions have used the Barbican, Bertha DocHouse, BFI, Close-Up Film Centre, the ICA and Rich Mix. It is a BAFTA and BIFA qualifying festival for British short films.
